CARMF assists CDC in nationwide ART data validation

The Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine and Fertility was one of only 35 nationwide ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) clinics to be chosen by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for assistance in their recent data validation program.  Only 8% of all clinics across the nation that submitted data for ART cycles in 2008 were selected by the CDC to participate in this highly important venture to improve national data quality.  The following are excerpts from a letter from Dr. Maurizio Macaluso of the Women’s Health and Fertility Branch, National Centers for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that further detail this endeavor:

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for opening up your clinic to our validation team earlier this year, and for facilitating the team’s access to the relevant records and information items.  We are aware that preparation for the validation visit takes considerable time and effort, and we are grateful for your willingness to collaborate in this important activity.  Due to the collaborative effort of your clinic and of other clinics participating in this validation process, the 2008 reporting year validation program was a success.

We appreciate all efforts you may make to strengthen the quality of ART data reporting at your clinic, because the public needs and uses these data.  We look forward to working with you in the future.”
